Summary
A Folmer & Schwing Speed Graphic folding plate camera (for 4 x 5 inch plates), with Ross Xpres f4.5 lens and focal plane shutter. It is an 'early period' model of this camera, with leather top handle, tapered black leather bellows, rising front, a folding optical finder with crosshairs, and a single focussing knob on a wooden bed. The camera is of wooden box construction covered with black leather, with a ground glass plate. Markings; maker's plate attached to right side of body, with table of shutter settings and "Speed Graphic", "Folmer & Schwing Division Eastman Kodak Co. Rochester N.Y." Lens details and maker on the lens front. Serial number "67798" stamped inside body underneath camera top (dates camera to 1915-18) .

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986
