Summary
Stirn stereoscopic camera containing 12 black metal dark slides, 4 of which (2, 8, 9 and 11) contain glass plates. Plate size 9 x 16 cm. Wooden body, leather changing pouch. Knob on back moves plates up into pouch. Brilliant finder set in top and side. Tripod bushes on side and base. Guillotine shutter is primed by turning knob on front between lenses. Addition made post-manufacture: two wooden panels on front housing sliding wooden lens covers. Front section slides away from rear, held together by leather strap. Pressure plates on rear cover. The 12 dark slides and holders are numbered 1 - 12 except one (No. 6 not marked). The back of slide 12 is covered with a wooden panel. Markings: Stamped into metal band on top: "Stirn's Patent, Made in Germany" with list of countries.
