Summary
Thornton-Pickard focal plane shutter for half plate field camera. Wooden body with fine finger joints and brass fittings. Ground glass screen. Roller blind is wound onto one roller. Dial for calculating exposure. Circular ivorine name plaque on side printed: "Focal Plane, patent Thornton-Pickard". Circular ivorine name plaque on top printed: "Ross, London". Stamped into wood on top: "79016 B".

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986
