Summary
A Ruby folding field camera, half plate by Thornton Pickard Manufacturing Company with lens and lens cap. Lens with an iris aperture of f8-f44, the lens mount of which forms the rising front of the camera. It has a single speed shutter with attached shutter release. The camera has a mahogany body with black tapered leather bellows and brass fittings, and leather strap on top of case. Ground glass focusing screen. In the base of the camera is a circular tripod support. Markings: on wooden RHS 'Thornton Pickard "Ruby" Camera', and manufacturer's name on lever beneath.

Part of The Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
