Summary
A Houghton's Ltd Ticka miniature camera in the form of a spherical pocket watch, dating from between c.1905-14. Meniscus lens carrried in the 'winding stem' of the 'watch'. The camera has an I&T shutter on the side, and a lever that opens the front of the 'watch'. It is made of silver-coloured metal with black metal interior, and metal film reel knobs. Markings: the front is engraved with ornate, intertwining letters of the model 'Ticka'. On the back, along with film winding knob is the manufacturer's details and distribution of patent ('patented in most countries'). Inside is the statement, '"Ticka" an ever ready waistpocket camera - patented thoroughout the world'.

Part of The Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
