Summary
Wooden box for a collection of gelatine silver glass plate negatives. The box has finger joints and the lid is affixed with two brass hinges, and secured with a brass swivel catch. Inside the lid is stamped in blue ink: '"Negasys" Patent'. This filing/storage system for negatives was manufactured by Houghtons Ltd of High Holborn, London WC (see General Note below). Handwritten on one side of the box is: "JAPAN 1909". Part of the Christie Miller Collection.
