Summary
Gelatine silver glass dry plate negative in original buff paper wallet, in portrait format, depicting a three quarter length portrait of a young woman seated in an ornate carved wooden chair. She is wearing the same dark skirt and pale blouse that she wears in 1522898.30, which was labelled "Lil". This appears to be a copy of an original studio portrait (likely taken at the same time as Inventory No. 1522898.30 and 1522898.31). The buff coloured paper wallet (part of the "Negasys" storage system - see General Note below) is pre-printed in black ink with a form where details of the photograph can be recorded: Date, Subject, Stop & Exposure, Exposure for Transparency, Exposure for Bromide, Exposure for Gaslight Paper, Print Meter No for Carbon etc, and Note. The wallet has a flap, upon which is printed in black ink the number "36". This wallet does not have any handwritten notes. Exact date unknown, but likely to be 1913, based on the similar portrait in this collection. Part of the Christie Miller Collection.
Provenance
Donated to the Fox Talbot Museum in 1976 by (the daughter of the photographer) Jane Wakefield Christie-Miller (1922-2017) of Swyncombe House, Henley-on-Thames, RG9 6EA
