Summary
Gelatine silver glass dry plate negative in original buff paper wallet, in landscape format, depicting a family group in a garden. Back row - a man and two women are standing; front row - an older man and woman and a young girl are seated. A dog is at their feet. The buff coloured paper wallet (part of the "Negasys" storage system - see General Note below) is pre-printed in black ink with a form where details of the photograph can be recorded: Date, Subject, Stop & Exposure, Exposure for Transparency, Exposure for Bromide, Exposure for Gaslight Paper, Print Meter No for Carbon etc, and Note. The wallet has a flap, upon which is printed in black ink the number "27". The image has been retouched around the area of the faces, most likely to lighten the shadows. Handwritten in black ink on the wallet, against "Date": 'July 24th 1913"; against "Subject": 'Family Group'; against "Stop & Exposure": F8, 1/4 sec, 6PM; and against "Exposure for Bromide": '25 secs at 12 in dark room lamp'. Part of the Christie Miller Collection.
Provenance
