Summary
A monochrome gelatine silver photograph in portrait format, depicting the carved stone wellhead at the Garden of Eden on the island of Giudecca, Venice. There is a long walkway and arbour in the background. The famous Garden of Eden (and villa) is on the island of Giudecca in Venice, Italy, and is named after an Englishman, Frederic Eden (a great-uncle of the British Prime Minister Anthony Eden), who owned the property and designed the garden in 1884. The image is mounted on grey paper and then on dark grey card. The image has a matt finish. Markings: Verso: Handwritten in pencil: "Garden on the Giudecca. Wellhead".
