Summary
A large mounted reproduction monochrome silver gelatine bromide photographic print of Sir John Herschel by Julia Margaret Cameron (1867), a gelatine silver print, with original image size 350 x 265 mm. The image is a head and shoulders portrait of the astronomer John Herschel, taken in April 1867 at his home and is considered Julia Margaret Cameron's greatest portrait. The surface and colour of modern gelatine bromide papers were matched to closely resemble the colour and surface texture of the 19th century original. This enlargement is made from a copy negative taken from the original print.
