Summary
A gelatine silver photograph in portrait format, depicting Princess Irene of Greece. It is a half-length portrait and she is looking directly at the camera. She is sitting on an ornate high backed chair.She is wearing a light coloured sleeveless blouse and strings of pearls and drop pearl earrings The image is mounted on white paper (now discoloured), which is itself mounted on heavy white card. (There is glue residue and damage all around the edge of the card mount, as if another frame has been removed). Markings: Recto: Handwritten in black ink, bottom left hand corner, the signature "Hay Wrightson": bottom right hand corner, "London": central, "H.R.H. Princess Irene of Greece". Verso: Bottom left: There is a white printed label printed with: "This picture was accepted and exhibited at the exhibition of modern portraiture London 1934. Professional Photographers Association. Catalogue No 5?5" Top right: There is a further printed/handwritten white label, printed and completed in black ink handwriting with: " Issued by the Professional Photographers' Association Limited, name Hay Wrightson , 41 New Bond St, London W1.
