Summary
Original wooden box for collodion wet plate negatives. A wooden carrying box with brass hinges on the lid, a brass carrying handle and two swivel closures. It is made with dovetail joints. Inside are two wooden pieces at each side which have grooves within which each plate would sit. These wooden pieces have become separated from the box and are loose inside. There is some damage to the wood, particularly noticeable on the back section, where there is a large amount of woodworm damage.
