Summary
An ambrotype one-sixth-plate image depicting a three-quarter-length studio portrait of a Victorian man seated next to a pedestal table upon which is a book. The image is set in a brown leatherette-covered wooden case lined with red velvet with gold painted decoration on the inner rim. There is a swivel catch on the right side, indicating that it originally had a cover but this is missing. It is set behind glass beneath which is a decorative oval brass mat. There is a rectangular decorative narrow brass preserver above the glass.
