Summary
A hand coloured ambrotype ninth-plate image, depicting a three-quarter-length portrait of a woman seated with her right harm resting on a table. She is wearing a bonnet and checked dress which has been coloured pale green. The 1/9th plate image is set behind a gold painted card mat, with an oval aperture. There is a rectangular cover glass and a gold coloured metal frame with a small amount of decoration at each corner. Verso the frame is backed with wood and a wooden stand which has a metal support. The back is held on by a swiveling metal bar which latches under the rim of the frame at the bottom. There is a small metal tube inset into the wood on the right. Stamped into the wood at the base is: "Pat Nos. 4659, 28950"
