Summary
A monochrome gelatine silver print stereograph depicting the River Dart with trees either side. It is part of the Buckland Drives: Since the mid 1800s people flocked to Dartmoor in order to partake of the rugged romantic scenery and bracing air. At that time one of the more popular places to visit was what then was known as the Buckland Drives. These carriage drives wended their way around Buckland Woods and followed the river Dart through some spectacular scenery. The image probably dates from approximately the Edwardian period. The 2 images have square corners and are straight edged, with no space between them. They are mounted on curved grey card with rounded corners. Markings: Recto - Handwritten in pencil, up the right hand side, "Buckland Drives, Ashburton". Verso - none
