Summary
A monochrome gelatine silver print stereograph of Salisbury Cathedral, from the River Avon, Salisbury, Wiltshire. The river is in the foreground, with a very rickety fence on the right hand bank and the cathedral in the background. The 2 images have square corners and are straight edged, with a space of 1mm between them. They are mounted on card which is light grey on recto and verso. It has rounded corners. The image was quite likely taken by T.H. Pettipher of Oxfordshire, based on similar images in the same set. Markings: Recto - none. Verso. - Handwritten in pencil, "Salisbury Cathedral".
Provenance
Donated on 5 September 2012 to the Fox Talbot Museum by Mrs Sylvia Warwick.
