Summary
A monochrome gelatine silver print stereograph of a view of Mass Dials (sun dials) in St. Michael & St. Martin church, EastLeach Martin, Gloucestershire. The 2 dials are carved in the right hand stone window/door frame. The metal hinge is visible just below them. The windows/door have been replaced by a chicken-wire frame. There is a track and house visible through the opening. The 2 images have square corners and are straight edged, with no space between them. They are mounted on card which is matt black on recto and brown on verso. It has rounded corners. The image was quite likely taken by T.H. Pettipher of Oxfordshire, based on similar images in the same set. Markings: Recto - none. Verso - pre-printed form in black ink with space for details of the image. These have been left blank. Handwritten in pencil, "Mass Dials East Leach".
Provenance
Donated on 5 September 2012 to the Fox Talbot Museum by Mrs Sylvia Warwick.
