Summary
A monochrome gelatine silver print stereograph of a view of a snowy a garden near Bliss Mill, Chipping Norton. The 2 images are straight edged with a space of 2.5mm between them. They are mounted on card which is black on recto and dark grey-brown on verso. It has rounded corners. The image depicts a view of a garden covered in deep snow, it is framed by a pergola with icicles hanging from the vegetation. In the background, beyond the trees is Bliss Mill. Markings: Verso, handwritten in black ink, "The snow bound rock garden and the lawn in (March/Feb) 1947 when the drifts we(ere) 4 or 5 feet deep in many parts of the garden, and severe frost was continuous for the whole of February and early March". Date, "March 14 /47" and " View taken from the verandah". Time, "4pm". Light, "sunny but failing". Stop, "f16". Filter "2X". Exposure, "½ sec". Plate, "Kodak X orths (?) Film. Developer, "Amadol".
