Summary
A monochrome gelatine silver print stereograph of the Long Gallery, Chastleton House, Oxfordshire. The 2 images, with rectangular top edges, are mounted in a black card frame with rounded corners and there is no space between them. The image shows a view of the Gallery and its plaster barrel vaulted ceiling. The plaster seems to depict a rose motif. All the walls have wood panelling. There are further windows suggested in the right hand wall. There appear to be 2 painted coats of arms high on the walls either side of the window, which has a large chest in front of it. In the foreground the flooring of large, uneven wooden planks is visible. Marking: Verso, hand written in pencil vertically on the left hand side "Chastleton".
Provenance
Donated on 5 September 2012 to the Fox Talbot Museum by Mrs Sylvia Warwick.
