Summary
A monochrome gelatine silver print stereograph of the Long Gallery, Chastleton House, Oxfordshire. The 2 images, with rectangular top edges, are mounted in a black card frame with rounded corners and there is no space between them. The image shows a view of the Gallery and its plaster barrel vaulted ceiling. The plaster seems to depict a rose motif. The walls have wood panelling, apart from the far wall under the large window. There are further windows in the left hand wall. There appears to be a fireplace in the right hand wall, but it seems to have a piece of furniture in it, rather than a grate. The are additional items of furniture at the far end of the Gallery. Marking: Verso, hand written in pencil vertically on the left hand side "Chastleton".
Provenance
Donated on 5 September 2012 to the Fox Talbot Museum by Mrs Sylvia Warwick.
