Summary

A monochrome gelatine silver print stereograph of houses on Midde Row, Chipping Norton, Oxon. The 2 images, with rectangular top edges, are mounted in a black card frame with rounded corners and a 3mm. gap between them. The image shows a row of houses, with a pavement and road in front of them. On the left is part of a house, with a pointed gable end facing road, there are 2 parts of windows showing, the lower half of the wall painted in a dark colour, whilst top is light.The next house, which is the subject of the photograph is a 3 storey brick dwelling with a flat roof and a set of 4 chimneys. The bottom level consists of a door on the left, with a bow fronted window, the next 2 levels above have a casement window in the middle. On the right is a smaller building, which is being used as a shop, and has an awning coming from the first level, with a lady standing at the left hand side. Another building of the same height is next to it. Markings: Recto, written in pencil, horizontally in the top right hand corner,"5". Verso, written in black ink vertically on the right hand side,"Old house, Middle Row C.N. probably home of Thomas Keeth" and on the left hand side "Note old "Cotswold" slates and gabled garret windows in neighbouring house".
