Summary
A monochrome gelatine silver print stereograph of a carved pew end, St Brannock's Church, Braunton, Devon. The 2 images, with rectangular top edges, are mounted in a black card frame with rounded corners and the space between them varies from 3 mm to 1 mm. The image shows the 16th century carved pew ends. This example shows a head in side profile in a circular frame with the initials "ST", "IB?", "BT"and "CP" around the outside. Beneath this is a shield with the initials "SCP" on it, with a bird either side. Beneath these are 2 square leaf carvings. This represents the head of John the Baptist. Markings: Verso, written in black ink vertically on the left hand side, "Bench End. Braunston Church, Devon". On the right hand side, "Subject is the Head of John the Baptist".
