Summary
A monochrome gelatine silver print stereograph depicting the Feathers Hotel, Ledbury, Herefordshire. The view shows the front fascade of the hotel, facing onto the main road, with flowers in all the window boxes. Further down the road can be seen the clock tower of the Barrett Browning Institute ( named in honour of the poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning, who spent part of her youth at Hope End in the parish of Ledbury). In front of the hotel is a motorcycle and sidecar, which appears to be carrying 2 milk churns and a folding travel bag, with various straps. Further down the road a car is parked alongside the kerb. There is a man standing outside a hotel doorway and further people (mainly men) walking on the pavement. The 2 images, with rectangular top edges, are mounted on black card with rounded corners and there no space between them. Markings: Verso: Handwritten in pencil "Ledbury, Feathers Hotel".
Provenance
Donated on 5 September 2012 to the Fox Talbot Museum by Mrs Sylvia Warwick.
