Summary
A monochrome collotype photomechanical print stereograph depicting Boscombe Pier, Bournemouth. The 2 images, with squared corners, are mounted on dark cream card, with rounded corners and there is no space between them. The view, taken from high up on the cliffs shows the cliffs and beach, with the pier in the distance. There is one ship moored up with another approaching. Extreme left in the background is the Chine Hotel (opened 1893). Markings: Recto: Printed in black on the right-hand side, “Stereoscopic Gems of American and Foreign Scenery” and on the left-hand side, “Universal Stereoscopic View Co. 952 Series ”. Printed in white on the right-hand image, “6086 Boscombe Pier, Nr Bournemouth ”. Verso: Printed in purple on the left-hand side, “H E Owens”.
