Summary
A monochrome collotype photomechanical print stereograph depicting The Gardens, Bournemouth. The 2 images, with squared corners, are mounted on dark cream card, with rounded corners and there is no space between them. The view shows a long water feature that is used for sailing model boats, as shown by a child and woman in the foreground. Numerous people are sitting on benches and walking on the paths, surrounded in part by trees. In the background is the Mont Dore Hotel, (which is now Bournemouth Town Hall). Markings: Recto: Printed in black on the left-hand side, “Stereoscopic Gems of American and Foreign Scenery” and on the right-hand side, “Universal Stereoscopic View Co. 952 Series ”. Printed in white on the right-hand image, “6083 Bournemouth The Gardens, ”. Verso: Printed in purple on the left-hand side, “H E Owens”.
