Summary
A monochrome collotype photomechanical print stereograph depicting at boatyard at Cowes, Isle of Wight. The 2 images, with squared corners, are mounted on dark cream card, with rounded corners and there is no space between them. The view, taken from a quay, shows possibly a boatyard. In the foreground, on the quay on a cradle is a large rowing boat. In front of that is a large bucket, that appears to have tar running down the sides, alongside a curved hull plank. On the water 3 men are on a yacht, surrounded by tools. One man is looking up at the mast/rigging. An additional man (in non-work clothing) is standing on the right, possibly on the stern of the yacht. In the mid-distance, moored at a quay on the far side of the water is a large 2 masted yacht. The quayside contains a collection of impressive buildings, backed by trees. Markings: Recto: Printed in black on the right-hand side, “Stereoscopic Views of English & Foreign Scenery” and on the left-hand side, “Permanent Stereoscopic Photographs Series PB”.
