Summary
A monochrome collotype photomechanical print stereograph depicting The Crown, Digbeth, Birmingham The 2 images, with squared corners, are mounted on dark cream card, with rounded corners and there is no space between them. The view shows the Old Crown Inn, Digbeth, Birmingham. To the right of the inn are several awnings belonging to shops next door and in front of the inn on the cobbled road are 3 horse-drawn goods carts: the centre one showing the driver. In the foreground are a set of tram tracks. Markings: Recto, Printed in black on the left-hand side, “Stereoscopic Views of English & Foreign Scenery” and on the right-hand side, “Permanent Stereoscopic Photographs Series PB”. Printed in white on the right-hand image, “428 Birmingham Old Crown Digbeth”. Verso, printed in purple on the left-hand side, “H E Owens”. On the right-hand side there is an embossment that is impossible to read.
