Summary
A monochrome half-tone photomechanical print stereograph of a Donga (dried up riverbed) at Colenso, Natal, South Africa, into which the wounded were carried during the battle of December 15th 1899. The 2 images, with rounded upper corners, are mounted on white card, with rounded corners and there is a space of 3mm between them. The view shows the dried up riverbed, with a small vertical embankment on the righthand side. The ground around is either very rough or has been churned up, with trees in the background. There is possibly a person with a basket, in the centre on the riverbank. Markings: Recto, printed in black and white on the right hand side, "The "B-P" Series". Verso, printed in black, " (Copyright.) DONGA AT COLENSO, INTO WHICH THE WOUNDED WERE CARRIED DURING THE BATTLE OF DECEMBER 15th 1899. Grobler's Kloof, on the nortth bank of the Tugela, can be seen in the background". W Tylar, Publisher, Birmingham".
