Summary
A monochrome halftone photomechanical print stereograph of Bushman's River at Estcourt, Natal South Africa. The 2 images, with rounded upper corners, are mounted on white card, with rounded corners and there is a space of 3mm between them. The view shows the shallow river with rough ground on either bank. Fort Durnford is on a small hill in the mid-ground, with much higher hills in the background. Markings: Recto, printed in black and white on the right hand side, "The "B-P" Series". Verso, printed in black, " (Copyright.) BUSHMAN'S RIVER AT ESTCOURT NATAL. Estcourt was the most southern town in Natal surrounded by the Boers in the early stages of the war. The town is situated in a hollow of the hills on the Bushman's River. The building in the distance is Fort Durnford, where it was determined if hard pressed the garrison should make their last stand.
