Summary
A wet collodion negative plate depicting a gentleman, seated next to a small pedestal table, with his hand resting on a book. There is a small bust on the table. A full-length studio portrait with props. Approximately half-plate negative on roughly cut glass 126 mm x 102 mm (American size: 5" x 4".) Some of the collodion binder is missing from the corners, there are cracks, ripples and pour marks. The number 293 has been scratched into the collodion binder on the left and the right sides.
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
