Summary
A hand tinted gelatine silver glass lantern slide of Bethany in Palestine. There are trees and fields in the foreground, and the town in the distance. There is a white paper mask with rounded corners, and a white paper label along the top edge upon which is printed in black ink: "20. Bethany". Two sheets of glass, 83 mm x 83 mm, one of which carries the image and the other is a cover glass, bound together with black paper tape.
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
