Summary
A stereo daguerreotype of the interior of Crystal Palace. A double image depicting an interior view of the Crystal Palace Great Exhibition of 1851, including statues and urns. Behind the cover glass there is a black paper mask over the images so that the visible part of each image is arched at the top and has square corners at the base. There is a paper border affixed around the edges of the slide and it is backed in brown card.
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
