Summary

Carbon print mounted on translucent glass,depicting Buxton Crescent, Buxton, Derbyshire on a metal hinged box with rounded corners. It is possibly either a cigarette, match or needle case. Markings: "2133" printed on white paper on the inside translucent glass. "PRESS HERE" on the lower front. On the lower left side "JANNCKE'S PATENT". On the lower right side REGISTERED 15 MAY 1880"

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986
