Summary
Albumen print depicting Great Yarmouth, mounted under glass on red plush mount with ormolu corners and stand and hook. The print is bordered in gold foil beneath the glass. The reverse of the frame and its stand are red leatherette. The stand is stamped with "Frith's Photographs". The image depicts a busy beach scene, with a number of people, rowing boats and sailing boats. The photograph may be by Francis Frith (and is attributed as such elsewhere) but this has not been verified.
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
