Summary
An opalotype portrait, three quarter length portrait of a woman wearing a high necked dark coloured dress, with her right arm leaning on a rustic screen. Opalotypes are carbon prints on translucent white glass. The image is mounted, rectangular with an arched top gold mount which is contained in an ornate openwork gilt frame. The whole is mounted in a red plush lined glass fronted case.
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
