Summary
A silver nitrate stereoscopic glass slide depicting the Grindelwald Upper Glacier. It shows discoloured snow and ice with moraine deposits. The village of Grindelwald is in the mid distance, with mountains on the far side of the valley. Two sheets of glass, one which has the image on one side and the other a cover glass. There is brown paper binding around the edges to hold the whole slide together. The rectangular images have rounded corners and a 2mm gap between the images. Handwritten markings on white tape to the left of the images - " Grindelwald Upper Glacier CP photo 1887".

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986
