Summary
A stereoscopic glass slide produced using wet collodion process, of the moon, by Warren de la Rue, published by R & J Beck, London. Warren de la Rue took a series of lunar photographs between 1857 and 1862. Two sheets of glass, one with the image on one side and the other a cover glass. Between the two glass sheets is a red paper mask with circular apertures around each image. There is red cloth around the edges to hold the whole slide together and a red cloth backing with circular apertures around the photographs. Markings: On the red paper mask is embossed in gold " Lunar Photographs by Warren De La Rue FRS.FRAS.&c" and below "Enlarged and Published by R & J BECK LONDON".

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986
