A lantern slide, No.3 of a set of 45 monochrome gelatin silver glass lantern slides of Alice through the looking Glass: in black and appear to be from original book illustrations published by Macmillan & Co. The picture is of chess pieces apparently in conversation The picture issurrounded by a square frame which has a narrow brown paper edging. There is a white label and spots on the top of the slide Around the picture in white paint/ink "3 The King was saying I turned cold to the very ends of my whiskers"
