Summary
An albumen print in landscape format, depicting the corner of the Cathedral at Lucerne, Switzerland. The stone in the wall is carved in a biblical scene, there are plaques and crosses mounted on the wall, and in the background is a crucifix statue. The print is surrounded by a grey border that is printed onto the card mount. There is some foxing. Markings: Recto: Handwritten in pencil, bottom left of the card is "Corner of the Cathedral, Lucerne. 79" and bottom right immediately beneath the image is "Frith". Verso: No markings.
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
