Summary
An albumen print in landscape format, depicting the town of Brig (Brig-Glis) in the Valais canton of the Rhone Valley, France. The viewpoint is from outside the town, with rustic buildings and a path in the foreground, with a woman and child walking on the path. In the distance is the main town and in the far distance are mountains. The print is mounted on heavy white card. There is some foxing. Markings: Recto: Handwritten in pencil, bottom left of the card is "Brig. Rhone Valley". Verso: No markings.
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
