Summary
An albumen print in portrait format, depicting the chapel steps at St Michael's Mount near Penzance, Cornwall. A dual aspect stone staircase leading to a doorway. The print is surrounded by a grey border that is printed onto the card mount. There is a significant amount of foxing. Markings: Recto: Handwritten in pencil, bottom left is "W Brooks" and bottom right "Penzance". Verso: Handwritten in pencil, bottom left is "3/6" and bottom right "The Chapel Steps St Michaels Mt".
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
