Summary
An albumen print in portrait format, depicting Bishop's Rock, Lizard. The view is of a small rocky outcrop (Bishop's Rock) surrounded by the sea. The print is mounted onto card, and surrounded by a thin red ink border. The card is subject to slight foxing. There is some damage to the card mount at the corners, particularly bottom right. Markings: Recto: Photographically captioned within the image, at bottom left: "3997. Bishops Rock. Lizard" Verso: A printed paper label is attached to the verso bottom right, "Frith's Photo-Pictures. The Universal Series".
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
