Summary
Albumen print depicting the construction of the Bhranini (now Brahmani) bridge, Odisha, India in 1898/9 (landscape). It depicts the new bridge in an advanced stage of construction. It shows how wooden ramps provide access to the top of the bridge piers, though a man is abseiling down a pier on the extreme right. There are numerous native labourers in evidence and a European surveyor on the extreme left. The foreground is covered with metal girders, awaiting use construction of the spans. On verso written in pencil "Bhranini Bridge Buisy Corner, 14.1.99. The number 13 circled in top left corner.
