Summary
A hand-coloured albumen print photograph in landscape format, depicting a full length portrait of two Japanese women in traditional dress, kneeling on the floor on a woven mat, having tea. The woman on the left of the image is holding a long piece of paper, and the woman on the right is reaching towards a large tea ceremony box. The tea cups, pot and tray are on the floor. In the background can be seen a traditional Japanese panelled room and a painted box or screen.
