Summary
A hand-coloured albumen print photograph in portrait format, depicting a full length portrait of a Japanese woman in traditional dress, kneeling on the floor on a woven mat. She is holding a large piece of fabric up in front of her, by her mouth and holding her right hand out to the side. She appears to be biting off the thread of her sewing. There is a box on the floor next to her, probably her sewing box. This image can be seen at: http://www.baxleystamps.com/litho/meiji/1898080967/album_1_18-1.jpg It is entitled: "392.
