Summary
A hand-tinted daguerreotype portrait of a woman, mounted in a plain burgundy leather case with wooden frame and missing top. The base of the case bears the makers oval shaped stamp in gilt topped with the royal coat of arms and in a belted surround the words "BEARD'S PHOTOGRAPHIC INSTITUTIONS" and in the centre 285 KING WILLIAM STREET AND THE ROYAL POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTION LONDON AND 34 CHURCH STREET LIVERPOOL" The case is lined in burgundy velvet and the image is in half-length portrait format, rectangular in shape with rounded corners and a gold mount. The size is 1/9th plate.
