Summary
A hand-tinted ambrotype, depicting a man in three-quarter length portrait. He is in formal dress wearing a monocle and is seated, resting his left arm on a table that also contains a vase of flowers. The photograph is framed by an oval gilt mat and gilt preserver, edged in red velvet. The case is a brown moulded union case, embossed in a floral pattern, with a decorative surround, both recto and verso. The case lid is lined with purple velvet and is embroidered. The size is a sixth plate. There is a small label on the back with the number 845 on.
