Summary
A hand-tinted ambrotype, depicting an elderly man in three-quarter length portrait. The subject is seated in front of a partially obsured coastal view, with heavy partially opened curtains. The mat has right angled corners at the bottom and arched corners at the top. It is surrounded by a gold preserver, and burgundy velvet edging. The case is of burgundy Morocco leather with blind-tooling to recto and verso, and is closed with a brass clasp. The case lis is lined with burgundy velvet. The size is a quarter plate.
