Summary
An albumen print photograph of Enfant Pleureux. The print depicts a stone cherub seated on a tomb in the ambulatory of Amiens Cathedral. It is known as the Weeping Angel. The work is by Nicolas Blasset, 1629. With one hand resting on an hour-glass and one elbow on a skull, this sculpture of a cherub symbolises the brevity of life. The print is one of two photographs mounted onto the lefthand side of the album page of heavy white card. The photograph is in portrait format and has diagonally cut corners. Markings: Bottom of the page, handwritten in ink and underlined, are the words: 'Enfant Pleureux'
