Summary
An albumen print photograph of the Boulevard des Palmiers, in Hyères, Southern France. The view is of a palm tree lined avenue with a man with a hand cart with two children, and two other men looking on. On the opposite side of the avenue a lady dressed in black with her umbrella up to protect against the strong sunlight is walking into the distance. The photo has caught the shadows from the palm trees onto the road. The photograph has diagonally cut corners. The print is landscape and is mounted on a page of heavy white card. Markings: Below the print, handwritten in black ink and underlined, are the words: " Boulevard Des Palmiers 1888".
